I love peanut butter again after trying this Peanut Butter and Company offering.
Peanut Butter and Company, a new York based company has developed a gourmet peanut butter that tastes great, and is only $3.99 for a 12 ounce jar.
(If you cannot find either of these products in the stores, try writing Fanshaw Foods, 1998, PO Box 2000 NY, NY 10101, or call 1.866.ILOVEPB to order.)
The Peanut Butter Company has made peanut butter that is a good dessert, this peanut butter is offered to the public in a few flavor varieties.
Unfortunately, it's sweet, it's made with peanuts and cane (sugar) juice. Thus, it's good for a dessert. Within a week, I have already emptied out the entire jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams, and must go out for more sometime soon.
Dark Chocolate Dreams is a sweet peanut butter prepared with cocoa butter. The 12 ounce jar of chocolate peanut butter is large enough to get a school child through his or her week. Dark Chocolate Dreams is chocolate-flavored enough and has the same texture and a similar nutty flavor to Nutella, the Italian hazelnut paste. With 7 grams of sugar per serving, and only 6 grams of protein, this is the dessert stuff. There is a small amount of pine oil added to this product, however, not so much that it interferes with the product quality.
Cinnamon Raisin Swirl has the crunch of sugar, and the flavor of cinnamon, plus a few raisins. It's good on apples, inside grapes, on crackers, inside English muffins, even inside scones. The evaporated cane juice crystallized a bit inside the jar, not whole grains of sugar, however, on the plus side, some folks like sugar crunch on top of pastries.
This Peanut Butter and Company peanut butter from the sandwich shop is really a delectable treat, and it contains no trans fats and no cholesterol. The peanuts are freshly ground, and the palm oil is
People thought I had "lost it" when I touted Jif's "smooth sensations", which was offered in a chocolate flavor as well as a cinnamon apple flavor. I did not know at the time about this Peanut Butter and Company peanut butter – it is even better in both of the flavors, the Dark Chocolate Dreams and the Cinnamon Raisin Swirl, than expected.
Both of the flavors of Peanut Butter and Company's offerings can be used in various ways in cooking. It's an instant flavor mix for muffins, it tastes great on fruit, it mixes well with maple syrup, honey or molasses for waffle or pancake topping, it mixes well with oil and vinegar for a flavorful salad dressing, it can be used in Thai cooking to make a sweet peanut sauce, this peanut butter is versatile, and will help a time-pressed chef who does not have time to reach for the turbinado sugar and the cocoa and the peanut butter frequently.
What if a no-sugar product is desired, you might be asking. Here is a recipe for you.
Sugar-free chocolate peanut butter
1 pound freshly-ground peanut butter
1 tablespoon peanut oil (or corn oil)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tablespoons dissolved Splenda ( 1 teaspoon boiling water), or 16 drops of stevia sugar substitute
Mix the corn oil into the cocoa powder with a fork, then add the dissolved Splenda sugar substitute to the cocoa powder. Fold the chocolate mixture into the peanut butter, stirring carefully with a fork, until the entire mixture is blended.
