Submission Guidelines
We commission original essays, reported features, and visual stories between 800 and 3,500 words. We don't publish AI-generated drafts, syndicated content, or pieces previously run elsewhere.
Send a working title, a one-paragraph synopsis, and three links to your strongest published work. We respond within fourteen days. Compensation is competitive; first North American serial rights revert to the author upon publication.

Do you accept unsolicited submissions?
Yes. Roughly 70% of our published work arrives through the open inbox. Send your pitch to [email protected] with a working title, angle, and links to prior writing. We read every one.
What's your editorial response time?
Most pitches receive a reply within fourteen business days. If life gets busy, we follow up within a month. Silence past six weeks means a pass — please feel welcome to resubmit.
Can I republish a Daybreak article?
We grant republishing rights after thirty days, with proper attribution and a canonical link. Email [email protected] to request permission and we'll reply within two business days.
Do you offer internships or fellowships?
Twice yearly we welcome two editorial fellows. Applications open in March and September through our careers page. Stipends are paid, and fellows leave with a published byline and a deep network.
